As the ‘memorial church’ to Henry Wagner, St Martin’s has a strong connection with the Church of England’s historical past and, in particular, with the Catholic tradition as it’s founding inspiration.
In continuity with this inheritance, St Martin’s now comes under the patronage of The Society for the Maintenance of the Faith who’s aims are ‘to maintain, defend and promote the Catholic Faith as received by the Church of England.’ In view of this, Resolutions A, B and C were re-passed by the P.C.C. in February 2009.
Furthermore, arising out of the Brighton Deanery Revision plan, St Martin’s has become officially linked with other parishes of the Catholic tradition to form the Wagner Group, after the signing of a covenant in June 2010. These parishes include St Bartholomew’s; St Paul’s, West Street; St Michael and All Angel’s; and The Annunciation.
