Welcome to our new Web Site
St Martin’s Church, now sharing the dedication “with St Wilfrid an St Alban” (titles of two Parishes in the former “Resurrection Team”), was consecrated in 1875 as the memorial to Fr. Henry Wagner, one of Brighton’s longest serving Vicars and builder of Churches. Originally it was to have two further purposes, one to be the Garrison Church of Brighton and the other to serve the community in and around the Lewes Road. The latter remains its purpose today.
I was privileged to join the Parish Family in November 2011. 'Parish Family' is our theme. At the centre of our life is the Parish Mass on Sundays. I am supported by a strong team of lay-officers who share the joy of developing our 'Mission Action Plan' through prayer, work and recreation, evidence of which may be viewed in the Gallery.
Though on a different site St. Martin’s Primary School is an integral part of our family; the staff and children can often be seen in the Lewes Road en-route to or from their Church, whilst Priest and members of the church are frequently in School.
One of our chief aims remains to open the Church more regularly for visiting and private prayer.
I warmly welcome this new site yet will reiterate my previous thoughts – the best thing is to come and see for yourselves – all our activities and church opening times can be found in our monthly news letter.
